Connection setup guide
Halfborg Levers reads your marketing data once a cycle to find the single highest-leverage action to recommend. This page walks through connecting each source from your Settings page. We only ever read — nothing on your side is changed, and you can revoke any grant at any time. Two values you will need throughout — the Halfborg operator email (a Google account) and our manager account ID (for Google Ads) — are in the onboarding email we sent you.

Google — Search Console, Analytics, Ads, Merchant Center
Google data is read by the Halfborg operator account (a single Google account we own), not by holding a token issued from your account. You add that account — or, for Google Ads, accept a link from our manager account — as a viewer on each property, then enter the identifiers on your Settings page so we know which property to read.
What you'll need
-
Search Console property — the exact property string from Search
Console. Open
Search Console
→ pick your property → Settings →
Property details. A URL-prefix property looks like
https://example.com/(keep the trailing slash); a domain property looks likesc-domain:example.com. -
GA4 property ID — the numeric ID (e.g.
319123456). In Google Analytics → Admin (bottom-left) → Property settings; the ID is shown at the top right. Digits only — noproperties/prefix. -
Store URL — your canonical storefront base URL with no trailing
slash (e.g.
https://example.com). We use it to build landing-page URLs from your Analytics data; it can differ from the Search Console string above. -
Google Ads customer ID — your 10-digit account ID. In
Google Ads it's shown at the top
right next to your account name. Enter it without dashes —
1234567890, not123-456-7890. - Merchant Center ID (optional) — the numeric account ID from Merchant Center → Settings. Leave blank if you don't run Merchant Center; see the note below.
How to grant access
- Search Console — open your property → Settings → Users and permissions → Add user → paste the Halfborg operator email (from your onboarding email) → role Restricted → Add.
- Analytics (GA4) — Admin → Property access management → + → Add users → paste the Halfborg operator email → role Viewer → Add.
- Google Ads — we send a manager-account link request from our manager account (the ID is in your onboarding email). In your Ads account, go to Tools → Account access → Manager accounts and accept the request. Read-only access is all we need. It can take up to an hour for the link to take effect.
Merchant Center: no separate grant is needed today — shopping performance per SKU is read through your linked Google Ads account, so accepting the Ads manager link above covers it.
Meta Ads
Halfborg has a single system user in Meta Business Manager. You give it access to your ad account, and we read campaign- and ad-level performance through it.
What you'll need
-
Ad account ID — the numeric ID of your Meta ad account. In
Business settings
→ Accounts → Ad accounts, it's listed
under each account. Enter digits only — no
act_prefix. - Access token — a system-user access token. If you're handling this yourself, generate it in Business settings → Users → System users → the Halfborg system user → Generate new token, scoped to your ad account. The token is non-expiring. (We can also generate this on our side once you've completed the grant below — check your onboarding email.)
How to grant access
- Open Business settings → Accounts → Ad accounts and select your ad account.
- Assign people / partners → add the Halfborg system user (ask us if you don't see it) and give it access to the ad account.
WordPress
We read your published blog posts (the post inventory) to spot content opportunities. A WordPress application password grants read access without sharing your real login — you can revoke it at any time.
What you'll need
-
Site URL — your WordPress site base URL, e.g.
https://example.com. - Username — the WordPress account whose login you'll use.
- Application password — a one-off password generated for Halfborg (separate from your normal password).
How to create the application password
- Log in to WP Admin → Users → Profile.
-
Scroll to Application Passwords, enter a name (e.g.
Halfborg Levers), and click Add New Application Password. - Copy the generated password — it's shown only once — and paste it, along with the site URL and username, on your Settings page. Generating the password is the grant; no other step is needed.
WooCommerce (optional)
Only needed if you sell through WooCommerce. A read-only REST API key lets us read order and product performance. Skip this section if WooCommerce isn't part of your store.
What you'll need
- Site URL — your store base URL. Defaults to your WordPress site URL, so you usually leave it blank.
-
Consumer key — the generated key, starting
ck_. -
Consumer secret — the generated secret, starting
cs_.
How to create the REST API key
- In WP Admin → WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API, click Add key.
-
Give it a description (e.g.
Halfborg Levers), keep permission as Read, and click Generate API key. - Copy both the Consumer key and Consumer secret — shown only once — and paste them on your Settings page (tick "This store uses WooCommerce"). The key is the grant; no other step is needed.
Stuck on any step? Email [email protected] and we'll sort it out. For what data we read and how to revoke access, see the privacy policy.
